A few questions from one who knows little; 1. What is the cheapest/best way to increase ram in an a1000 (to at least a meg) from 512k? 2. Is it possible to use other chips with the a1000? ie. 68010 or even a 68020? If so, is it worth the bother? Would software still run? 3. Re:hardrives (minimum of 20 megs) - what is the cheapest/best? 4. Does Cartographic/mapping software exist? ie along the lines of Maps and Legends for the Atari ST? How about Geographic Information Systems? Rather esoteric I suppose but extremely useful. Several GISs exist for IBM clones. 5. Are IBM emulators available? (Sidecar or whatever) Are they fast enough to be useful? Thanks (sorry if this stuff has been asked a million times before) Please respond via email if possible. -- Forgive me Father, for I have sinned B. I have found a source for Seagate ST-277N (scsi) drives HH 5 1/4" for less than $420 (65 Meg), and I still am hard pressed to find any better deals than that. (40 ms access by the way) My controller is the GVP 1meg/scsi controller and I have had no problems. The best thing I heard about it recently is that it will let me boot from FFS w/o the small normal FS partition. Good Luck, tat1926@uxf.cso.uiuc.edu )

1.) Anyone out there use Soundtracker? If so, how do I get it to perform the SAVE MODULE function? All that happens is my pointer goes red (ouch!) after a second of disk access. Am I missing something? I have tried this on FOUR versions of SoundTracker, all with the same result! 2.) How does one go about designing a font for use in games and demos? I have DPaint II, but I'm loathe to use that since I can't see how to be precise enough with the letter size and spacing. I could cut 26+ brushes and stuff them all into an IFF-raw converter, but there must be a more elegant way than that! 3.) The assembler provided with Lattice C v5.02 has no INCBIN directive. Is there any way around this or must I acquire another assembler? -- # J.Gold | mapjilg@uk.ac.bath.gdr # # University of Bath , UK | jilg@uk.ac.bath.maths #
