Well, last night I finally got the time to go ahead and pry open my A2002 monitor. I had the transactor article in hand, but I didn't have any of the corona dope or anything, so I was going to try for the simpler solution that somebody (sorry, forgot who) mentioned here. Well, I poked around a bit with my ohmmeter and found that the heat sink in question (it's pictured in the Transactor article, the L shaped thing) was not grounded. So I connected a wire from a bolt on the heat sink to a grounded bolt near the front of the monitor, put everything back together, and powered it up. I sat there and watched it for quite some time, and NO MORE SNAPPING!!! It used to snap every ten or twenty minutes, but now it seems completely gone. So, thanks to all who contributed to my success in this, and good luck to everyone else out there... monty kosma@alan.decnet.lockheed.com
