I STRONGLY agree. Here at Union College, we have Amigas in the Arts
department thanks to an open-minded Professor. He recently announced a new
"computer arts" course to be taught on the Amiga. Yesterday he had two amigas
set up in the college center and the OLD video put out by C-A some 3 years ago
featuring the A500.
Basically, there was a large crowd around the display and dozens of
students signed up for the course (which will only fit 10). Many were simply
stunned by the animation and even more by the music.

I have tried to convince the Computer Science department to contact C-A
and ask about getting one or more loaded Amigas for use in a new GRAPHICS LAB
they are planning: TALK ABOUT A STONE WALL. They won't even consider it.
Why? "First, we want a computer that incoming students are already familiar
with" ---> BULLSH*T. They don't want to try it. They told me that if C-A
were to GIVE them a machine to put in their LOUNGE for 6 months they'd LOOK AT
IT. Of course, by that time, they will have already committed themselves to a
deal with IBM (of all companies) since they have "superior graphics" and are
"easy to use". GRRRRRRRR

I asked our college bookstore about supporting the amiga while it is on
student discount (which I discovered ends in June: BAD). They said they could
not do this since C-A will ONLY work through the dealers, NOT the campus. This
is a bad move by C-A in my opinion.
Basically, Commodore needs to guarantee support, etc to the department,
(I doubt they'd consider it anyway, you'd think IBM were bribing these people).
As it is, I am going to write to Dr. Harrison to try and convince him to donate
a fully loaded amiga to our school. Do any of you think he'll do it, or is he
going to laugh at me??

One last thing. I want to be an ASOCC. I've been supporting the Amiga
here on campus and am giving LOTS of help to this professor. I want to get
credit for my work, something to put on a resume for when I graduate soon, and
I'd like the chance to upgrade my computer without selling my soul. How can I
convince C-A to chose Union as a "preferred campus"????? Keep writing???
(SIGH)

Send any replies directly to me (as well as the net, if you like)
