[comp.sys.amiga] Corrupted Hard Drive on 2000HD

Last night while using DigiPaint 1.0 on my Amiga 200 I encountered a very
scary problem. The scenario is as follows:

I had loaded a HAM picture from a floppy so that I could touch it up some and
then save it back onto my hard drive by overwriting an existing picture with
the same name. Well, the touch-up job went without a hitch until I tried to
replace the file on my hard drive. First, I received a requester stating
that I had read/write errors and asking if I wanted to retry or cancel the
operation. I initially selected retry, but that option just popped up the
same requester again. So this time I chose cancel. At that point I got a
visit from the guru. At this time it seemed that I had no option but to
re-boot, so I gave it the 3 finger salute. The re-boot went OK until it
reached the point where it tried to mount the hard drive partition (fh1:)
that had previously received the read/write errors. The following
requester was displayed:

	"Error validating disk"
	"Key 34567 bad header type"
	"Retry or Cancel"

The only option that had any positive effect was cancel. When I selected
the cancel option, the boot process continued normally.

My hard drive partition fh1: now seems to be a read only partition. If
I perform any operation involving a write, I get the following requester:

	"Volume Work is not validated"

Other than the HAM image I was working on, all the files seem to be intact.
I can read and copy them to any other disk volume. As long as no read
operations are involved, all of my executables on that volume seem to
operate normally.

Is there any way to fix this problem short of copying all the files from
partition fh1: onto floppies and then re-formatting? I tried using
"diskdoctor" to correct the problem. It spent about 20 minutes reading
all the cylinders on that volume and reported that it could not read
a few of the keys (I'm not sure what that meant) before it finished.
It did not seem to help at all. I still receive the above mentioned
problems. Can anyone please help me? I would appreciate it very much.
In advances, thank you for any help or advice that I receive.
