11TSTARK@GALLUA.BITNET ("Timothy Stark ", Picard) (03/01/90)

Hello Amiga Users:

I am looking for NetHack 3.0 binaries. I get Nethack 3.0 source patch
level 7 last week. It include Amiga version update. Does anyone know where
is NetHack 3.0 binaries for Amiga?? I want binaries because I have limited
secondary storage to compile them into binary.

Where is archives that is avaliable to anonymous FTP about >300 Fish
disks???

Thank-you,

If someone does not post the binaries soon, I will. I have patch7 up and
still have a few quirks I am working out. Actually the Amiga development
team for nethack is working them out, I just send them mail :-).

Anyway as soon as I am certain that it is fairly stable I will compile
a version that will fit on a floppy based system and arrange distribution
assuming it is not yet around. Also keep in mind that pl7 represents a
signifigant change to the amiga version of the source and it is likely that
bugs have crept into the code. PL8, due out in a month or so is supposedly
going to be the finnal stable version.

3.0G is available via anonymous ftp from xanth.cs.odu.edu in
/incoming/amiga as NH3G-Aux.zoo and NH3G-Exe.zoo.

| Subject: NetHack 3.0 patchlevel 7 for Amiga
| Date: Tue, 27 Feb 90 22:55:01 PST
|
| I've ftp'd these 2 files to xanth:
| /incoming/amiga/NH3G-Exe.zoo
| /incoming/amiga/NH3G-Aux.zoo
|
| For the convenience of those Amiga users who'd like to play NetHack 3.0
| (patchlevel 7) but do not want to do all the work of compiling it, here
| it is for the Amiga. It is enclosed within two zoo files.
|
| One zoo file, NH3G-Exe.zoo contains only the executable. It is 805868
| bytes when un-zoo'd and should be placed on a floppy disk called HackExe:
| or in a harddisk directory with HackExe: appropriately assigned.
|
| The other zoo file, NH3G-Aux.zoo contains the auxiliary files also needed
| to play NetHack. Zoo x// these onto a floppy disk called NetHack: or into
| a harddisk directory with NetHack: appropriately assigned. There are
| icons here for some document files and for running the game itself.
|
| I compiled NetHack with Lattice 5.04 according to the instructions in
| Install.ami (included). I stripped the DEBUG hunks from the executable
| so that it can fit on a floppy disk.
|
| NetHack 3.0 is a tight fit on a 1 megabyte machine. Before sending this
| off, I tested it on a 2-Meg fast, 1-Meg chip Amiga by booting an unaltered
| copy of Workbench 1.3, double-clicking the NoFastMem program (to try to
| simulate a 1 Meg system), and by then double-clicking the NewGame icon.
| Workbench reported about 90K free when NetHack was running. Unfortunately,
| this does not exactly mimic a true 1 Meg machine. You may have to make a
| lean boot-up disk, possibly using a PD program like OnePlane or WBDepth to
| reduce the memory used by the Workbench screen, and run HackExe:NetHack
| from the CLI.
|
| Have fun! Read rec.games.hack for tips & techniques.
