I've just about decided that these demos fall under the category of "mythical" software. ;-) I've posted requests for ANY info whatsoever as to how to find them, and all I got was a hundred messages saying - "If you can find out anything, please let me know." So, anybody out there ever really SEE them? Are they PD or shareware or just copyrighted? What's the story? Dave Buchthal

So, anybody out there ever really SEE them? Are they >PD or shareware or just copyrighted? What's the story? The walker demos DO exist. The problem is that they are illegal for Imaginetics to distribute. It is copyright violation: Lucas holds a copyright on the Ice Walkers of Hoth. Imagin. didn't think of that until they got this phone call... There is, however, no legal reason why I cannot give them out. I have both. If you want them, Email me and I'll give you my regular address and you can send me a SASE and two blank disks (four if you want both). They are both well over 1MB in size and require 2MB to run! I don't plan on sending anyone mail with them anytime soon. On my system, we are limited to <1MB quota even in the temporary storage areas so I cannot mail them, FTP em, or even get them into my Unix account. If there is another way let me know. Personally, the first is a little disappointing compared to the second, but is still quite good. -- Ethan Ethan Solomita: es1@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu Compu$erve : 70137,3271 Anyone giving away Amigas or Sharp Scanners???

The ones I have are 2 disks each and are actually *DEMOS* of the demos (yes, that's right). Rumour has it that the full WalkerII demo takes about 6 meg to run!! I have not been able to run them since they take 2 to 3 meg and I only have 1. I'm saving them for that big day when I can afford the extra memory. I don't know anyplace that you can get them. I saw an ad in the back of AmigaWorld (Feb) that has the Walker II demo. It was some company that distributed PD software. -Mike

I've seen the walker demos, one of them at the WOC in Valley Forge. I somewhat remember that one could copy the disks there, but I didn't at the time because I had better things to put on my blank disks ;-) But the demos themselves are real even if unavailable. -- Darren

I heard that the final Walker Demo II would be put onto film, but the project was halted due to copyright protection by Lucasfilm on the Walker units (Ice Walkers or whatever they are called).

I can see if I can get a copy of them. If there is a location that I can ftp to (Xanth?), I'll be happy to upload them there. Ray Pfaff pfaff@europa.asd.contel.com
