[comp.sys.amiga] Users Groups

Desperatly Seeking Users Groups (Amiga of course)

PaNorAmA is the Pacific Northwest Amiga Users Association. We are the
second Amiga Users Group to be formed and have been operational since
August of 1985 (nobody had an Amiga yet). Our group has about 400 members
including some fine programmers, both commercial and PD. Most of our
members reside in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area although as of late
we have been getting memberships from Europe and Austrailia. We have
an associated group in Bellingham Washington, USA.

Our library is very large and consists of over 250 disks, which
includes FISH and AMICUS disks. Our own PaNorAmA disks are being
distributed (free of charge in most cases) in the US and Europe. Our
Librarians, headed by Jeff Lydiatt, supply our 3 meetings a month with
2 disks of PD software and text files at each meeting, as well as
making the entire library available at our Workshop meetings and to out of
town members for the cost of shipping and handling.

We produce a monthly newsletter which is between 12 and 24 pages, with
information ranging from C and Assem. programming tips to reviews of
games and productivity programs. It has been completely produced on an
Amiga of course.

We have set up a club BBS which has 40 megabytes of files from our
library and will soon be running on an Amiga 500 with the WEDGE
interface designed by Jim Brooks. (604) 275-3652 for Members only.

The cost of joining PaNorAmA is $25 for the first year and $20 per
year after that. Our executive is 30 dedicated volunteers and we have
a number of special interest groups as well.

The Punch Line
**************

We would like to make contact with other users groups so that we can
share our newsletter, programs and ideas in hopes of better serving
the Amiga community. If you are a member of a users group, please post
me a note with a descrription of your group like I have done above,
and let's get the communications happening.

If you are not a member of a Users Group, then I suggest you look
into it. There are many benifits (depending on the group) and if you
don't have one in your area, start one up. It is as easy as asking at
your local Amiga dealer for a list of people looking for support.

Thanks for your time.

lel@wuphys.wustl.edu (Lyle E. Levine) (03/06/90)

I'm moving to Yorktown Heights New York in a few weeks (just north of
New York City) and I was wondering if there are any good Users Groups
and Amiga dealers in that area. Thanks in advance for any info!
