I am Amiga 1000 owner who would like to use the company upgrade offer to purchase a new 2000 or 2500. I think I would like to "get into" 3D CAD, 3D graphics with shading, maybe some animation, and video editing. Would I be better off buying an AMIGA 2500 with a 16 Mhz processor, or should I buy an AMIGA 2000 and install GVP's A3000 28 Mhz 68030 accelerator board. The money is approximately the same, about $2,000 plus the old 1000. Either way, I plan to buy about 4 MB of RAM and at least a 40 MB hard disk. I plan to run DigiPaint 3 and Gold Disks' Design 3D. If anyone knows of a magazine article with bench mark tests, please let me know. I am a fan of UNIX but I do not see an advantage in loading AMIX on the new Amiga for the applications above. If there is a good reason for running UNIX for the purposes of graphics work, please inform me. Could I, for example, start DigiPaint rendering or Ray Tracing in background? If so, could I not do this with AMIGA DOS since it is also a multitasker. I love UNIX, but I am afraid of loading down my PC with unneeded overhead.
