Greetings, I find myself yet again thinking about purchasing a computer system, but this time for much higher stakes. I wonder if people would mind my trying to draw on your knowledge in the subject to help me select. The hardware I originally wanted, looks like this: CPU Amiga-2500+ (68030CPU) Memory 2Meg Disk 40Meg internal Disk 40/80Meg Added/External(?) Misc IBM Bridge Card/XT (AT card later?) Misc Amiga No Flicker Card, (Is there only 1 made?) Modem 2400bps/Hayes compat Printer Laser (HP LaserJet compat) FAX Either Internal or not, but clearly on the system Scanner Hand scanner of some kind, speed does not matter, nor does color Tty (Spare tty for living room, $100.00 Tops) Of course, UNIX S5R4, Included. I seem to be able to get it down under 10,000.00 without any problem, but I would like it closer to 5,000.00, the big items are obviously the amiga, and the printer, but who uses dot matrix anymore? [:-)]. They have a developer program, but its unclear how much that will bring the cost down, or if I can even get in. I considered an AT, but it just doesn't make sense, after all, with an amiga, I can plug "AT's" in if I want later, (As spare cards!) Anyway, the basic functionality should be obvious, I'm a unix hacker, and like having a system with some power, and something that can run X is a plus. Perhaps I'm overlooking something that's altogether better, and cheaper, but then, that's why I'm posting this message. Thank You for your time, and any help you can offer. -- Shawn
