[comp.sys.amiga] Expansion of 500

Just some general questions that don't seem to have beenspecifically answered
in the magazines or here.....
I am currently looking at my upgrade options.I have a 500with
1meg,two drives, 1200 baud and okimate 20. The 2000 looks nice but
is a financial setback withoutincreasing my base machine (aside from FAgnus and
slots).
I want to start DTP (b&w only but high quality output).
I am looking to incorporate large files of photos into picturebase (ala
comicsetter graphics and characters). From there somesimple animation and video
work.
Don't mistake me, the 500 in the above configuration wasbought
in 87 as beginners level. I am now looking for a costeffective upgrade to
accomplish the above tasks. When I getaround to being proficient at this new
level I will be handingthe machine either down or to a friend while I upgrade
properly(The Amiga 5000).
My plan is to look at around 5 megs of ram amd a 40 megdisk.
The disk I feel should be removable media because ofpicture base and
telecommunications files. I am looking atconfiguring at least three separate
working environments. Anygood hints on doing this? Problems to watch out for ?
The five megs ram is slightly more difficult. The
ImtronicsHurricane offers a 68020 upgrade with room for 4 megs (definitelya
consideration) but I don't know how effective that would be orhow it works. Is
there a bus consideration ? I am not trying todo a 30 board here just get
working speed and a working systemtogether. Or is a toolbox type subsystem a
better consideration ?
For the printer I would like to go to a deskjet plus to getmy
rough copy (plan is to lino finished) and quick higher qualityprintouts for
rush stuff. Is there a better option ? Same quality ? This system
ie. 45 megs ram (maybe CPU upgrade), removableHD, and printer would give me two
to three more years leeway forabout $2800 investment. This is a fair bit to the
ole hobbyistand I just wanted to check if there were other more costeffective
options available. I am also open to advice underCanadian tax laws for
advantage to small business.

If you are looking for a hard drive and memory, go for the Xetec, GVP
or TrumpCard 500 (which I have). If you are looking for a suped up A500,
it starts getting pretty prohibitive and I would strongly suggest a used
A2000 w/ 2620 you can pick up dirt cheap.
     Just my two cents worth....
