I have been playing with MSH (messydos file system) and having a lot of fun, but have run into a few bugs. Has anyone had success with these? 1) Files show up as directories in DIR and LIST displays 2) I can create subdirectories, but I can't create anything in those subdirectories (I get a messydos write error). This could be because it is confusing files and directories due to bug #1 above. 3) I can't get a directory display of a DOS disk with the SID utility. When I ask SID for a volume list, it shows me the MS-DOS volume name (or Unnamed). When I click on it I get an error message: Error: specified path is not a directory Is this SID's fault or messydos' fault? This is a real shame because the combination of SID and messydos would be great. 4) I had to add "Reserved = 0" to my mountlist. Other than that it's a great piece of PD software. ________________________ Bob Fillmore, Systems Software & Communications BITNET: FILLMORE@EMRCAN Computer Services Centre, BIX: bfillmore Energy, Mines, & Resources Canada Voice: (613) 992-2832 588 Booth St., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1A 0E4 FAX: (613) 996-2953

I have had more problems with SID choking on floppies than I care to recount. It was with great regret the other day that I deleted it from my HD. I *want* to like SID, but it keeps biting me in the but. I haven't tried MSH and SID, but SID gets all bent out of shape with floppies that I have formatted (against C='s recommendation) under FFS. (Utilimaster will deal with them just fine.) > This is a real shame because the combination of SID and messydos > would be great. SID *should* be great, but I keep getting it confused, even with OFS floppies. > Other than that it's a great piece of PD software. MSH, yes. SID, maybe. -Gary -- Gary R Heffelfinger ------ gheff@hubcap.clemson.edu Clemson University - Info. Systems Development Eagles soar, but a weasel will never get sucked into a jet engine.
