[comp.sys.amiga] Asynchronous Transfer

dksnsr@nmtsun.nmt.edu (Dr. Mosh) (03/10/90)

I have recently connected two Amigas together using a null modem... I get
some pretty fast rates of transfer in between them, but I can't seem to
get JR-Comm to transfer files between them, it always says there is a lost
of carrier, so I assume it must be doing asychronous transfering, because
in normal chatting it works... any ideas?

Yes: There is an option on the modem menu (I believe thats the menu) that
allows for 'Ignore carrier detect'. If you enable the 'Ignore carrier detect'
your transfers should go without any problem. I had a similar problem with
a modem and cable that did not support that line (carrier detect), selecting
that mode got rid of the lost carrier messages.

Good luck, and take care, Mike...

Try this... Goto the options menu and select modem. Go to the bottom of
the window and select "Ignore No Carrier". This sounds like it might be
what you need to get it working right. I don't have 2 amigas (Green w/
envy :-) so I don't have positive proof that this will work for you.
But it might be worth a try..

Good Luck
