[comp.sys.amiga] A2000/HD/PC Survey: How easy is it to use?

murphy@newton.physics.purdue.edu (William J. Murphy) (03/15/90)

I have been given the chore of finding a computer system for my parents'
first computer. He is an insurance executive and she is an active housewife
that needs wordprocessing and spreadsheets to do some of her extracurricular
activities. In the course of the last two weeks I have at least gotten them
to consider the possibilities of just an Amiga or just a Macintosh. However,
I have been told that the PC-compatibility is a MUST-HAVE since my father
works in the PC clone dominated world of business. Both parents are total
novices at using computers so I want to reap some opinions of the A2286
bridgeboard. I will also take responses for the A2086 XT bridgeboard, but
if I buy the A2000/HD/PC, I will purchase the A2286.

E-MAIL your response to save on net-traffic. (as opposed to gross-traffic)

    1. How would you describe your computer literacy? What do you use
a computer for? How many years have you used computers?

    2. What systems have you used in addition to Amigas and PCs?

    3. How long did it take you to set up the Amiga to get it running WITH
the bridgeboard? What PC software do you run on the bridgeboard?

    4. If you have a harddisk, How much effort in man-hours would you
estimate have been put into getting the PC bridgeboard to boot
       directly from the hard disk?

    5. Have you ever had problems transferring data between the
       bridgeboard and other PCs?

    6. What is your opinion of the A2000 with bridgeboard compared to a
       typical PC clone?

    7. If such a system is properly configured with software for
wordprocessing and spreadsheet(s), do you think that a novice user
will be able to use the combination as easily as a PC clone with
the added convenience of having an Amiga?

Thank you for the time you have taken to help me out with this survey.
I really don't want to purchase a clone for them, but if that's what
will be easier to use then so be it.

Thanks,
