[comp.sys.amiga] MG3a executable? Arexx?

scotth@corp.sgi.com (Scott Henry) (03/09/90)

Is MG3a available anywhere? Especially source? I haven't seen it go by any
source group I watch, or any ther recent mentions of it. I am anxious for
the Arexx port!

Wondering if MG3a is avaiable as an executable with all the
options turned on. How complete is the arexx port?

Thanks for any information.

Where is there an FTP site where I can get mg3a?

Thanx in advance.

Here's the scoop on mg3a:

It's in beta test. I've been busy with other projects (like changings
jobs and houses and an imported asian flu and other things that
should appear soon), and there's still much work to be done on it
(like convincing it to work on a DS3100, and incorporating patches
for things other than BSD & Amiga/Lattice, and adding three or four
sets of bug fixes/enhancements). I won't be distributing a binary
version until the real release. Nor will I be doing a usenet posting,
or sending mg3a to Fred Fish.

The current beta compiles and runs (and displays bugs) under Lattice
5.0x. You can ftp the sources & several levels of patch files from
jade.berkeley.edu, in pub/mg. The editor is solid in that it doesn't
guru (at least, not for me), but there are several known annoying
bugs. Earlier versions had serious problems, and would guru at random
times.

The ARexx interface is extensive, and has drawn nothing but praise
with two exceptions: 1) (paraphrased) "To many notes", and 2) You
didn't provide any information about screen positioning. This should
be fixed in the next release, probably using code provided by Dan
Riley.

At this point, I wouldn't count on mg3a before 1.4. Especially since
I'm tempted to wait for 1.4 in any case.

Hi,

I am having problems finding the jade.berkely.edu, since our nameserver
can't find it. I would appreciate if someone could send me the
IP-address for jade!
