[comp.sys.amiga] Find command

FUCHS@pucc.Princeton.EDU (Ira Fuchs) (03/06/90)

Does there exist a UNIX-like FIND command for AmigaDos. Something that
can search any or all mounted disks looking for files (or directories) that
meet some criteria (e.g. specific date, created within a specific period of
time, etc.)?

Yes there is a program exactly like the UNIX one and also FastFind which I
like a lot better... they both can be found on ftp sites I think and good
shareware or PD BBS's...

Yes. I wrote a find program that is exactly like the UNIX one
about 2 years ago. You can find it Fish 197 or in any
	comp.sources.amiga archives.

Fish disk #197 has a find command that does just what you want.

It supports the following expressions:

-name -perm -type -size -mtime -exec -print -newer

It has a new expression, -prot, that checks a specific permission ( -perm
checks all of the bits).

It supports and, or, and not also.

It comes with source (C).

It works great for me.
