[comp.sys.amiga] Naming scheme for new beasts

gilgalad@caen.engin.umich.edu (Ralph Seguin) (03/19/90)

What do you think about having a naming scheme based on
processor and on processor speed. Ie, consider the following

Model # Processor Clock rate
------- --------- ----------
3200 68030 25 MHz (with 32 bit custom chips of course)
3300 68030 33 MHz
3400 68030 40 MHz
3500 68030 50 MHz
4200 68040 25 MHz
4300 68040 33 MHz
4400 68040 40 MHz
4500 68040 50 MHz
5200 68050 25 MHz (I'll probably catch hell for this one).
5300 68050 33 MHz
...

What do you think? Dave? The last two digits could be used for
things such as disk storage capacity, ie, a model 3230 would have
300 megs of storage.

			See ya, Ralph
