I was watching a new "Computer Chronicles" show on a local PBS channel over the weekend on the subject of Desktop Video, and the Amiga was presented very well. In the introduction the moderator said they would discuss various applications for the three leaders in this field: Apple, IBM, and Commodore(!). I sat through the beginning of his introduction expecting him to bypass the Amiga altogether, but got real excited afterwards. They began the show with a demonstration of a new product for the Amiga by a fellow from CBM (sorry, I've forgotten his name). It was a new CD-ROM interface and authoring software package that looked very "Object Oriented". I've already been hearing about this at a local usergroup as the latest "hush-hush" thing coming out. He said in the show that it is only being sent out to developers right now. It looked pretty nice. He had it multitasking with the CD and some graphics. The show then went on to Apple and IBM, and that's when I left to fix a snack :-). At the end of the show, another fellow (gee, I'm great at names) gave an overview of the three systems and said that the Amiga was definitely in first place, though was limited by it's current resolutions. Apple was 2nd, and IBM was gaining because of it's large customer base. It was a rewarding show, so keep a look out for it in your area. I think the show sells transcripts, so if you can't get the broadcast, you might try writing them for that. =David Clemons
