One can ALMOST excuse Phil Katz' anal rententive attitude refected in
his message about AmigaZIP. After all he was nearly elevated to God
status in the MS-Dos world because of his battles with SEA. In the
MS-Dos world they didn't have many alternatives to ARC, in the Amiga
world that motivation isn't there. Lharc is a SLIGHTLY better archiver,
Zoo is slightly worse and there's no paticular reason to settle on a
standard, let alone one that isn't the best. So my reply to Mr. Katz
is, "If you want my money, give me a knockout product, ZIP just isn't,
don't expect me to send you money for something I don't use or have any
use for!"
B.T.W. the port of this MS-Dos program was done by Dennis Hoffman of
Safe Harbor fame. It's the best mail order Amiga Store I've found and
they're nice people to deal with.
(How about that two sentences ending with prepositions in one message!)
