Sidebar in the cover story in Personal Workstation (MIPS).
April 1990
Article:The New breed
Sidebar: Workstation on a budget. (page 42)
Amiga A2000 w/ GVP 30/32 board 4Mbyte of ram
1. Didn't like GRU because of need for .info files
but no mention of 1.4 update.
a) but a good introduction to a multitasking system
(rather condescending tone to this part)
2. Number crunching - beat NeXt and Mac w/ Daystar 33/030 board
Dhrystones and MFLOPS w/ Linpacks.
Conclusion: Price $5000 beats Mac but same price range as
a 25-Mhz So get a 386.
My conclusion: Don't read Personal Workstation :-)
Seriously he spends the entire little article on
Amiga, Mac and Next then ends by saying get a 386.
Yuck! The editor should have never allowed it.
IMO. With no supporting arguments it says BIAS.
