A few weeks ago, I posted a question in rec.video on whether I should
buy a dedicated character generator or an Amiga system for video
character generation. I heard about the pros and cons of each and have
decided to go the Amiga route. I've talked to dealers and attended
the Amiga-Expo in Washington DC last week. This is really confusing
me now.
So far, I know that:
1) I want to stay away from the Amiga 500 for the sake of growth
potential and expandability. The 2000 or highter has been recommended.
Obviously, a suitable system monitor is also required.
2) I need a suitable genlock which will handle Y/C, since I edit
and produce in SVHS.
3) I need suitable titling software, such as Pro Video Gold or Broadcsat
Titler.
4) I eventually want to get into more ambitious video graphics and
animation, but for now, I want a quick and easy way to add good-looking
titles to my videos.
5) I want to spend as little as possible now, but leave the path
open for greater investment for system expansion later - into some really
ambitious stuff.
So the question is, what's the minimum I need to buy now, in terms of
mainframe, to get started?
Many thanks in advance! (E-mail or voice, please.)
