HELP! The make utility of Manx 3.4a seems EXTREMELY buggy. I have a program with 17 modules. The compiles run, but when it comes time to link, I get guru messages (e.g. 00000004.0000a708 - sometimes the first part is different; also got 00000004.0001e640. By very slow experimentation (frequent warm boots) I've determined that either a) a dependency on more than 16 files causes trouble, or b) the order of inclusion of .o files is to blame. Both ln and lb cause the problem - actually I think it's the dependency line, not the command line that is not being handled properly. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there a fix or a work-around? Anyone from Manx listening? Jack Orenstein

I'd be greatly indebted to anyone who would be kind enough to send me either a binary of the PD make, or latticeified source. My only copy has gone to the happy hunting grounds, unfortunately, and the only source I can find is of the manx persuasion. ______________________________________________________________________________ /_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/_____/ |_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____| _No dark sarcasm in the classroom|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|___ |____Teachers leave the kids alone__|_____|_____|bryan@mothra.cs.utexas.edu___| ___|_____|_____|_____|___{ihnp4,seismo,...}!ut-sally!mothra.cs.utexas.edu!bryan |_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|_____|

[] I have downloaded and extracted the latest Make from the Fish archives on uxe.cso.uiuc.edu. I got it to update my .c files to .o files but the thing will never acknowledge that it did so. It will recompile every source file the next time I run make. The makefile runs fine under 4.3BSD 2.3 Ultrix. The .o file times are newer than the .c file times. I would look into rebuilding the make program, but I am not yet comfortable with the Lattice compiler to port it. Has anybody else had this problem? Please email. Many thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ newton@oswego.oswego.edu Eric C. I have two closely related questions. Maybe these are candidates for the monthly intro article since I'll bet they've been asked many times before. 1. what is the best make program for the amiga? 2. what is the most unix compatable make available? I was trying dmake the other day and when I run some programs (flex & bison) alone they work fine but under control of dmake they crash. Anyone have any hints? ........................................................................... mccauley@jimi.cs.unlv.edu

I need a unix like MAKE utility. Could anyone tell me where I could find one or, better, send me one ? Tanks for any answer, Fred.
