Could someone tell me the exact jumpers I need to connect on the IBM XT bridgeboard to have a little 8ohm speaker playing on it? I think I saw people talking about this before, but any messages pertaining to it have ran off my system and I can't read them. Thanks for any help. ---My sig file has been eaten by a %$^& ARGH!!!!

You can't. Period. There is some sort of design bug in the audio circuits which does not allow it to drive a speaker. I had a fix for this but it involved replacing a part and cutting a trace (I believe?). Sound is available at line level (suitable for amplification) at the two pins about 3/4 of the way back at the top of the board. Two wires can be attached to this pins and run to an RCA (stereo type) jack mounted onto a spare backplate (usually the one removed when you installed the Bridgecard) which is then mounted in an unused slot. This can then be connected to the monitor audio inputs or merged into the Amiga sound at your stereo amp. [Bridgeboard Speaker] I have a 2088 Bridgeboard, and I was upset that there was no speaker. On the other hand, I HATED the speakers on friends IBMs. What I did was I soldered a 12V DC Piezo buzzer to the two pins (J2 according to the manual) that are supposed to be for the external speaker. It's rather quiet (I like that, as I can easily drown it out by talking in a low voice, but if I NEED to hear the beep....) If you really NEED the "high quality sound" (read beeping), I remember reading about a place that was selling bridgeboard speakers.... don't quite recall where or how much, tho' -Mitch -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\| Software Error Task Held |//////////////////// kengo@pawl.rpi.edu | "I see." said Arthur, who didn't | Just call me Mitch ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't really understand, but I just connected a cheapo RS speaker to the J2 jumper at the top of the board about 3/4 the way back and get the usual PC beeps and such.
