These are the true specs for the IIfx, ala Apple. I thought we should get the exact facts. I am interested in things such as, what is the bus speed? >what are the slots/expanability? MOST IMPORTANTLY, what comes with the >base configuration and how much does that base configuration cost? It has 6 NuBus slots and 1 processor direct slot. The PDS is directly attached to the CPU, and is designed for high-speed cards that need greater bandwidth than NuBus. The Suggested Retail Price for a IIfx with 4Mb of RAM and an internal 80Mb hard disk is 9869. There's also a base level with 4Mb and no hard disk for 8969. You need to add a keyboard, video card, and screen to those prices. A 4Mb configuration is very usable; you can expand to 8Mb for another $999. The IIfx has a number of features that improve performance: 32KB static RAM cache, I/O processors, special memory architecture that speeds up memory writes. I for one do not give a *&%^ about the MacIntosh at all. I think further discussion of it should be kept to the Mac newsgroup.
