I was phoned today by Eyo Sama, owner/publisher of AmigoTimes magazine.
He told me that they have rented a new office and have a new phone
number which is 514-398-0551. Then we discussed the check he issued
me in January '90 for my artice in their issue 1.9 which came out
in Oct '89 and how that check had bounced six weeks after I received it
and what he intended to do about it to set things straight.
He promied me that it was not his intention to write me a bad check
and that there was money to cover it at the time it was written but
that his accounts were frozen some weeks later and thus the funds
in my check could not be made available.
To make a long story short, he is trying to secure new financing to
being publishing the magazine again and if and when that happens and
he gets some other large debts paid off then I stand a chance of
getting re-paid what is owed to me. This could take weeks or months.
He blames the downfall of AmigoTimes on many factors not the least of
which were many advertisers who took out large color ads and then never
paid the bills.
Nonetheless I did hear from him which is somewhat incouraging and if
anyone reading this needs to contact him you can now do so at the
number shown above.
