Yesterday (3/28/90) I posted an article on comp.sys.amiga, comp.sys.amiga.tech, and comp.sys.amiga.hardware on Impulse's new MegaDrive, a R/W optical storage medium. I posted it to all 3 groups because I thought is was important enough to do so. However, I posted it to each group separately instead of cross-posting it. I have received several email responses telling me of my mistake and how much bandwidth I wasted,.... Well, the reason I did it this way is that I have tried to use the cross-posting option on several occasions without success. I am using a Sun 3/50, suntools, and Pnews. At the newsgroup(s): prompt, I have tried using the following types of formats: comp.sys.amiga,comp.sys.amiga.tech comp.sys.amiga, comp.sys.amiga.hardware comp.sys.amiga comp.graphics None of these options worked. My article was always sent to the first group and NOT the second. Now, I do NOT want to be flooded with 20 mail messages as to how to do this, but I do need to find out. So if some kind soul could kindly volunteer to tell me what I did incorrectly, I would appreciate it. BTW, I have rarely tried to use cross postings (4-5 times in 2 years) so this problem just hasn't come up before (the "flames", that is). So let me apologize (long-windedly...) for my mistake. I did NOT realize that there were major differences in bandwidth and disk storage, as well as net responses, between cross-posting an article and individually posting the article to each group. Now I know. Thanks for informing me. Scott Sutherland sutherla@qtp.ufl.edu BTW, I hope this gets read before I get another half dozen or so "flames". :*) ;^)
