Hello.

I need the following info(someone informed me I should ask here rather than
comp.sys.amiga.tech):
as a newuser of the Amiga, pretend(though I'm not totally) that I am
brain-dead, and every command must be listed, and nothing assumed.
I need to install Star Command on my hard drive. The instructions on the
data card weren't precise enough for me, even with all the books that
came with my system. I'll have to get the AmigaDOS book soon....
here is the summarized text of the card, please no flames from SSI for
reprinting without permission.

[text begins]
INSTALLING STAR COMMAND ON A HARD DRIVE:
Note: The following assumes your hard drive is referred to as DH0, and
that you have basic knowledge about creating directories, copying files,
and using ED to edit your startup-sequence. Please see your manual for
more information.

1) Create a directory on your Hard Drive named SC, for example.
2) Now copy everything from both disks into the newly created SC
directory on your Hard Drive.
3) You will need to copy the T directory from the newly created SC
directory to the T directory at the root directory of your Hard Drive.
4) Now edit the Startup-Sequence in the S directory of your Hard
Drive and add the following five lines:

	Assign SC1: DH0:SC
	Assign SC2: DH0:SC
	Copy DH0:SC/EL to RAM:
	Copy DH0:SC/Free.run to RAM:
	RAM:Free.run
[text ends]
I need complete commands for #2 & #3.
I copied to the wrong part of the HD(The WorkBench source part) when
I did copy DF0: (to?) DH0:
(so where should it be copied to? 1.(Boot:/): or somewhere else?)
Then again, I think I did:
copy DF0: to c:
(c: being the part of the HD, as I found out later, that has the workbench
stuff on it. it ran out of space there and that brings me to the next problem)
now I need to know the specifics of the delete command.
After failing experiences with * as wildcard, a friend told me the Amiga's
wildcard is #? so does that mean to achieve the result of removing all the
files on the WB part of the HD I should (after CD'ing into that dir)
do:
delete #?
or
delete #?,ALL/S
or something else?

advTHANXance to all who would tell me the answers via email or posting.

you can email to the address above: Wayne_Scott_Wallace@cup.portal.com
