[comp.sys.amiga] Expansion boxes

dennya@pnet02.cts.com (Denny Atkin) (05/31/89)

Is anyone out there using one of the Expansion Technologies or Phoenix
Zorro II expansion boxes on an A1000 (or 500)? How well does it work?

I'm debating using one to add a DMA HD card and eventually a RAM card too.
I'd like to go with the expansion box as I will _eventually_ upgrade to a
2000 or 2500 when 1.4 comes out and fully supports the ECS.

I've heard a few remarks from people who say they work okay if you use the
right HD controller and memory board combo. I'd be interested in hearing
what controllers people are using in the boxes. And H be especially
interested to hear if anyone has REALLY gotten a card to work on the
pass-through on one of the boxes.

I would like to know more about expansion boxes for the A500. I've
heard about the A1500 that's in Europe, but what's available in the
U.S. ? What exactly is the Toolbox? Please email any info, in
particular:

1) Generally what the thing looks like (a 2000 clone, a show box, a
Cuisinart, etc.) and what it can hold inside (room for a harddrive?).

2) How much and where can I mail order it?

					Thanx in advance,
Ours is a jaded universe. Roger P. Ang (rang@ICS.UCI.EDU)
