[comp.sys.amiga] Tracball<==>Mouse

TEW105@psuvm.psu.edu (03/30/90)

I know its been posted before but I didn't save it.
How do you convert a tracball designed for the Atari2600 into a mouse for the
Ami? If you can't tell me how, could you tell me if I can get old postings
from the net (thru FTP or something)?

Thanks for any help

I guess I'm sort of the keeper of the trackball hack list, so if you'll
e-mail me, I'll send the collection of hacks to you. (I already tried
sending you a test message, but it bounced. I don't know anything about
Bitnet, so I'll have to wait for a good path to you.)

Since requests for the trackball hacks seem to repeat every few months,
I've sent the collection off to Tad Guy for posting to the moderated
groups and the archives as he sees fit. The collection is up to 27K now,
so continued reposting here probably is not the best way to deal with
it.

On the subject, the new Trackman trackball by Logitec looks pretty nice
(three buttons under your fingers, and a tiny ball under your right
thumb), has anyone tried adapting one to the Amiga yet? I find that
because of the awkward placement of the buttons, the Wico and Atari
trackballs are more suited for games than a everyday mouse replacement.
