[comp.sys.amiga] Brief run-down on the Amiga . . . ?

c60b-cc@buddy.Berkeley.EDU (Abel Chow) (04/12/90)

[What's this line-eater thingy?]

Hello, all. Could somebody give a brief run-down on the features and
relative merits of the Amiga line of computers? What proprietary chips are
in the Amiga and what do they do--Paula, (Fat/Fatter?) Agnus, Copper, etc.?
What are the primary differences between (and prices of) the 500, 2000, and
2500? I thought the 500 had 512K of memory. Has this changed? How much
memory does each come with? I know that AmigaDOS is loaded up on bootup.
How much memory does it take up? What are the features of AmigaDOS 1.3 and
the upcoming (?) 1.4? As you can guess, I new to comp.sys.amiga. (I also
DON'T own an Amiga.) I've got a LOT more questions, but I'll hold off for
now . . . 8)

I have to say that I'm impressed by the amount of activity of the Amiga
newsgroups. Please reply by mail as a reply might get lost in all the new
postings. (Who wants to go through 200+ new postings to find a reply?)
Thanks.
