I am interested in getting a (or a few) flight simulators / flying games for my Amiga. There are so many titles on the market these days, I don't even know what to begin looking at (Flight Simulator II, Jet, Falcon, F-16, F-19, F-40, Fighter-Bomber, Chuck Yeager, and at least 10 others). If you are familiar with any of these, could you e-mail or post your opinions of them? I am interested in how realistic the simulation is, how good the interface is, how good the graphics are, any special features, and generally how good you think these and any other flight programs are. I'm thinking of getting one or two realistic simulations (such as Flight Simulator II), and perhaps one or two of the more "point and shoot" variety of flying games. Any biased opinions are greatly appreciated! Bruce Bowers

After many years of armchair flying, I recommend the following: Flight Simulator II - soon to be upgraded by subLOGIC, FSII is not equalled for its realistic representation of everyday flying. F-16 Falcon - arguably the best combat flight simulator available for a host of machines (IBM compatibles, Atari ST, Amiga), Falcon's price is worth both the manual and the support. F-18 Interceptor - Not entirely realistic nor responsive, Interceptor was the first combat simulator available for the Amiga. Its lack of realism and poor response (for example, the simulation rolls s-l-o-w-l-y) do not diminish the enjoyment of the scenarios. On the plus side, the sound is probably the best of all simulators listed. Jet - Not realistic in flight characteristics, Jet (by subLOGIC) was the first flight "shoot-em-up" available. Unfortunately, Jet seemed more a port from the IBM compatibles than a program crafted especially for the Amiga. Thus, the sound is not impressive nor are the graphics. On the plus side, Jet takes advantage of the scenery disks available for its brother, FSII. Gunship - Realistic in flight but lacking in sound and graphics, Gunship is the better of the two helicopter simulations available. Strong in story line but weak in the seeming ported graphics and sound, Gunship is nonetheless recommended for its manual and its playability. Good luck and happy flying! -- // /// CIS: 73200,3117 \X/oel ///urray Usenet: a23@mindlink.UUCP
