[comp.sys.amiga] The A3000...remember the hoax??

lgreen@pnet01.cts.com (Lawrence Greenwald) (05/03/90)

Now that the A3000 is announced *for real*, does anybody remember the 'A3000
announcement' from 1987/1988? It was the April Fool's joke played on us by our
then illustrious president of the San Diego Amiga User's Group, Steve
Hartford. (He now (was??) works for NewTek...no jokes anymore eh Steve??). The
machine had been demoed for a local defense contractor but 'they had just
enough time to show it to you lucky SDAUG members' (or something like that).

Anyway, I was the one who first posted it here and the rumors spread like an
uncontrollable fire throughout the net (and even landed in a few Amiga
magazines).

Well, the Operating System 'shown' was "Workbench 2.0".

EVEN THEN, WE WERE THE FIRST TO KNOW!! 8^) (kinda strange, don't ya think??)
