[comp.sys.amiga] A3000 and viruses...a question.

consp11@bingsuns.cc.binghamton.edu (Brett Kessler) (05/03/90)

A question a friend of mine just put to me about the A3000 got me thinking
about something. All of the viruses that currently exist on the Amiga -
what are they going to do now under the new OS?

Since most viruses (viri?) don't do things in a legal way, are they now
going to seriously break the system if you run an infected application or
use an infected diskette?

A related question, I guess. Custom bootblocks are very similar to a
bootblock virus in that they do things in a nonstandard way. Are all of the
programs that use custom bootblocks (ie: games) going to break under 2.0?

Any ideas?

One thing will that will come of the 3000 is that people may begin writing
viruses that attack the hard disk. I know that there are some of them now,
but with every 3000 having a hard disk, it will probably make it seem more
worth the trouble. (Hope I didn't give anyone any ideas)
