[comp.sys.amiga] unix for my 2000

jra1@ra.MsState.Edu (Jeffrey R. Allegrezza) (05/07/90)

I am very interested in getting unix for my amiga, but I have a few questions.

I have a 2000 with the 1 meg agnes and 2 meg of fast ram, and two floppies.
Is this enough to run unix? Do I need a hard drive and/or a faster cpu, etc?

Also, since I am thinking of getting a hard drive anyway, do you have any
suggestions on the best drive and controller to get? Price is a factor here.

Sure, it'll work fine. Don't believe all those who say that just because
Unix is about 40 megs that you need a HD because of it; if you can't handle
a little disk swapping now and then you shouldn't be here in the first place.
Also, those namby-pamby wimps who need memory protecion just so their systems
won't crash are just whining little dweebs... an occaisional GURU does a CPU
good, cleans out all the gunk, you know.

And the 68000 is plenty fast enough. It was released only 11 years ago, after
all; if you're so impatient you gotta have a new CPU every single decade then
I don't know what we're going to do with you.

(just releasing all the natural sarcasm that builds up inside me on occaision;
if I don't post it I usually spout off to someone in person and get beat up)
