[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga 1000s for sale... ONLY $100 EACH!!

ereidell@media-lab.MEDIA.MIT.EDU (Evan A. Reidell) (05/04/90)

I supposed I'll be flamed for posting this advertisement, but I thought
everyone should know about this.

You can buy an Amiga for $100.
And have a complete Amiga system for less than $300.

The Memory Location, which is the Boston Area's best Amiga dealer, has
lots of good, used Amiga 1000s for sale. They're from the trade-ins and
so they will be resold without a keyboard but for only $100 you get a
512K Amiga 1000 CPU and disk drive, a mouse and a power cable.

It will run most Amiga programs, *and* the good old stuff that worked
with Kickstart 1.1. Also, with $130 for an A2000 keyboard and $60 for a
monochrome composite monitor, you'll have a fully operational Amiga
system. It's not supported by Commodore anymore, and 2.0 will never
run on it, but almost everything else will and I think that's a hell of
a deal for the money.

The address of The Memory Location is 396 Washington Street, Wellesley
MA 02181. Their phone number is (617) 237-6846. I think they will ship
UPS to you, but you'll have to pay the charges. Hope this information
helps someone.

The A2000 uses a round (9pin?) plug-in connector for the keyboard, the
A1K uses a phone jack type plug in. Last I checked they were
	totally incompatible.

Good Grief (said Charlie Brown) $40.00????? I know I guy here in Vancouver who
makes them and sells them for $10.00(Can) which works out to about $8.50 or so
in US bucks. Considering that the parts are less than $3.00 and it takes about
4-5 minutes to build one BY HAND, $40.00(US) leaves a lot of room for profit.
Sounds to me like whoever is selling this item down there is just a bit greedy.

There is an adaptor availiable for $40.00 that makes them work
together. Does an a2000 keyboard really cost $130.00?

Yes, something like that, but they're worth it. Good PC keyboards cost around
$100 minimum. "Anything less would be uncivilized."

The place that is selling the A1000 is also selling the widget for $20.
Not a great price...but it gets you a working machine that much faster.
