JOB OPENINGS: INFORMATION SYSTEMS ANALYST

Division of Research and Statistics
Description: Work with economists and programmers on a large network
(120+) of Sun/Solbourne workstations/servers (3/xx, 4/xx)
used for theoretical and applied economic analysis.
Responsibilities may include:
. Design and development of an object-oriented economic
modeling system.
. Opportunities for research, including
distributed/parallel processing on the Sun network with
economic applications.
. Research computing support for a user community of 100+
economists.
. Identification and evaluation of new Unix software (such
as editors, mathematical/statistical software, utilities)
that may be useful for staff work on the network.
Education/Training:
Required: BA/BS, MA/MS or ABD with background in Computer Science,
Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Mathematical
Economics, Statistics, or equivalent work experience.
Experience with C and LISP.
Familiarity with the UNIX operating system.
Desirable: Familiarity with object-oriented programming;
Experience with symbolic algebra packages (e.g. Mathematica,
Maple, Macsyma);
Familiarity with parser generators (e.g. BISON, LEX/YACC);
Experience with a windowing environment (preferably X-
Windows or SunView) or design of user interfaces;
Familiarity with symbolic computing, numerical analysis and
optimization, distributed processing, and SUN workstations.
The best candidates will have demonstrated evidence of self-
motivation and creativity.
