Hear ye, hear ye! Announcing the first ever intergalactic UNIX hackers' convention to be held somewhere near New York City Saturday, Sep. 10th into Sunday the 11th, 1983. The purpose of this gathering is to have a good time and to meet fellow hackers. We will start the bash around noon Saturday, and end around noon Sunday for those who want to stay over (bring a sleeping bag). If you want to share in a barbecue dinner, the cost will be about $5 per person. Brunch on Sunday will be DES encrypted. The location will be finalized when we know how many hackers are planning to attend. The possibile sites are all "countrified" with recreational facilities, and located to the north of New York City within 1.5 hours drive. Bring frisbees, softball eqpt, swimsuit, TOWEL!, musical instruments, etc. Friends and non-hackers permitted, but they should be warned to expect the worst. No DOD spies allowed (that includes MITRE). Please send mail to me if you are interested. Indicate how many and if you need a ride (or can supply one) and I will arrange carpools wherever possible. Reservations REQUIRED no later than September 5. Suggestions and volunteers are welcomed.
