I bought a Seikosha SP-1000 printer a week ago in anticipation to buying a printer later this summer. It was just too good of a deal to pass up. However, it is a serial printer (part of why it was so cheap). I've talked to an Amiga user, and he says that the Amiga may not be totally compatible with a serial printer. I'm most familiar with the IBMs (not that they're my favorite), and I know howto convince the IBM to send data meant for the parallel port to the serial port. This is nice for a lot of the command-line print commands, and unconfigurable print features (which almost always print to the parallel port. Is there also a way to convince the Amiga to treat the serial port as if it is a parellel? Is there even a need for this? I'm also looking at the C=128, so if anyone might know how to do this on a C=128, I'd be happy to hear from you. Bryan Siegfried -=- siegfred@suna0.cs.uiuc.edu biology and economics at uiuc

Just set the port to serial instead of parallel with preferences. I have used a serial printer just fine. Steve ----- Steve.McClure@Columbia.NCR.COM GO JACKETS!!!
