[comp.sys.amiga] 88000 Coprocessor Card for Amiga 3000.

Restating the obvious:

the 88000 is not in the 68000 family.
No 680x0 code will run on an 88000. Not AmigaDos nor AmigaUNIX.
Nor ANY Amiga application.

An 88000 would be fun to play with. To be a real product, you'ld at
least have to write a 'C' compiler for it, and a way for it to interface
into the operating system. If it takes over the bus, you'ld have to
write an operating system. Then if you ported a significant number of
applications to it, you'ld have a real chance at become a successful
niche product on our favorite, dare I say, niche machine.

I think new and interesting coprocessors are nice, but only experimenters
with lots of time and money will buy them. If you had an application
already waiting for a coprocessor, and wrote it for such a board, and
the price performace was worth the cost of software + board...
