DNet suddenly stops accepting connections. Here's the story: I have been using DNet to talk to a Sun-3 and a DEC Station 3100 for a year or two and all of a sudden I have a new problem. First, the vital statistics: Amiga 2000 1.2 Kick, 1.3 WorkBench, Arp 1.3 (1meg chip, 1meg fast, GVP + 140meg HD) Sun 3 running 4.0.3c I use tcsh (csh plus command completion) Terminal server: an 8-bit connection. DNet (latest version, upgraded a while ago with no problems) I am using DNet to send many, many small files. The script that runs on the Amiga is basically a series of "getfile"'s that I execute once the link is established. That is, rather than using wildcards or getting entire directories, this script is gets each file one at a time. It looks a little like this: getfiles -dUUNEWS:comp/sys/amiga/tech -c /usr/spool/news/comp/sys/amiga/tech/11967 getfiles -dUUNEWS:comp/sys/amiga/tech -c /usr/spool/news/comp/sys/amiga/tech/11968 getfiles -dUUNEWS:comp/sys/amiga -c /usr/spool/news/comp/sys/amiga/40743 getfiles -dUUNEWS:comp/sys/amiga/hardware -c /usr/spool/news/comp/sys/amiga/hardware/1942 .... (It's computer-generated... no, I don't type it all myself!) The problem: I can run this script and it executes the first 100 or so lines (about an hours worth) and then it aborts saying "unable to connect". If I run "loadav" it tells me the same. I can "quitdnet" and then restart it and I get the same problem. If I "quitdnet", click on the close-box, then re-run Dnet (luckily my modem never hangs up) then the problem goes away... for another hour or so. Does anyone else have such problems? Are there any patches for DNet that I don't know about? Could someone forward this to Matt for me? I don't know his new address.
