[Line eater? What line ea I get to recommend an Amiga-based system for the lab in which I work during the summer (and also during the academic year, but for far fewer hours). I'm going to put together a couple of systems, one based along the A2500, one based on the A3000. They need IBM compatibility (reasonable grade - the bridgeboard will do just fine) and some Mac compatibility (AMAX should do the job). My question about the former: which 386 and 386sx accelerator cards will work with which bridgecard? I would prefer to go with the AT bridgecard and install a 386/sx accelerator later - at the moment, they have no idea what a 386 IS, much less whether they need it, but I'm trying to look ahead for them so they don't get stuck. My question about the Mac: could someone please send me information on the reliability of the TrumpCard, and general information as well (sizes available, speeds, reliability)? They would like hard drive use under AMAX, but it isn't necessary. (I'll be putting together a proposal without Mac-compatible hard drive access as well. I understand the AMAX people are putting together a new version which will allow it to be used with all Autoconfig drives, but I want to show them equipment available/orderable now.) General questions: 1) What will the FlickrFixer do with the new resolution modes? Will it pass them through (hope hope hope) or something else and less fortunate? This is for the A2500 system. 2) Are there any EGA or VGA cards out there which will _not_ work in the A2500 and/or A3000? 3) If I propose an A3000 system, I'll probably need an EGA or VGA card. That will leave zero slots free, correct? What other problems will this cause? There are no plans for a network now, but that may change - could the PC side be eventually accessed from the Amiga side using C-A's new networking software? Please reply via mail, unless you think others might be interested. Thanks a lot (in advance) for the help - I realize that these are a lot of questions... - R'ykandar. -- | R'ykandar Korra'ti | Editor, LOW ORBIT | PLink: Skywise | CIS 72406,370 | | Elfinkind, Unite! | phoenix@ms.uky.edu | phoenix%ms.uky.edu@ukcc.bitnet | | "Careful, mom, the toys are loose!" - from The Wizard of Speed and Time |
