You  bet there is. If you are a Commodore recognized user group you can qualify
for some of the special offers that Commodore has from time to time. A while
back they had a user group promotion which allowed the members to purchase
a software package (included word perfect and bunch of other stuff) at an
incredibly low price.

On the subject of the advantages of registering:
    Commodore sends all user groups that are registered free information about
new products, group purchasing, etc.
