Hi! I have a question about wilderness backpacking in Maine and
New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Canada.
My wife and I are planning a trip north in the next few weeks.
Our itinerary will take us to St. John, New Brunswick to visit
relatives and we were planning to camp in Maine on the way
home -- Baxter State Park; however after receiving the mail
packet from Baxter, we are disillusioned with it. There are
strict regulations about where you may establish your campsite,
when (if ever) you may make a campfire, etc. We want to
really get away and (responsibly) enjoy our privacy; Baxter
does not show this potential.
Does anyone know of good backpacking trails in Maine, New
Brunswick, or Nova Scotia? My map of Nova Scotia includes
Kejimkujik National Park and Cape Breton Highlands National
Park, both in Nova Scotia -- is anyone familiar with these parks
for wilderness backpacking? Any suggestions and/or experiences
would be appreciated.
