Well, I finally found the problem (and the solution) to my 1070 woes. As pointed out by a couple of people here, the video/audio in connectors are soldered to a 2"x3" pc board in the back of the monitor. Un/plugging the video cable "stresses out" the solder connections and then "poof" no video (but the tube "fires up" fine). After a video co. gave up because CBM no longer supports it (never did???) and has/keeps neither parts nor schematics for it I ventured into the back of it myself. Sure enough, 4-5 of the solder joints were broken. A little dab on each did it and now it works fine. If anyone else has this problem (one or more colors go and a whack to the side of the monitor occasionally brings them back until eventually nor more picture) remove the 2 billion screws and examine the little pc card the video connector attaches to. Again, thanks to those of you who suggested this to me. Btw, anyone interested in a 2000 w/ 80 Meg drive and 1070 monitor???
