Seams like the much rumored about Amiga CD machine is anounced by CBM at last. Due to the latest issue (4.6.90) of English Computer Trade Weekly (CTW) Commodore showed the CDTV Amiga machine June 2nd at CES in Chicago. No offical prices yet but CTW thinks it will be around $900 un the US and at 699 pound in the UK. Tech Spec: High-end CD audio unit with latest CD + G options infra-red handset, in-built Amiga PCB with 1MB and fully compatible with all A500 software if 3.5" diskdrive and keyboard is added. Each CD can handle 660MB, there is also "a form of storage" using 64K smart cards slot into the front. Extras: infra-red keyboard, joystick or trackball wich will work via separate transmission device called "the brick". Development & Software: CBM has been working on it about 18 months. Some Japanese involvment is also rumored. Some 40 'titles' are expected to be available as soon the machine is launched. Not necessarily games only. Availability: Autumn, September maybe.
