AmigaNet ======== AmigaNet, the network for the Amiga computer family is now also available for the Amiga 500. Now from the A500 up to A3000 can share data and peripherials (e.g. printers and hard disks). AmigaNet is a full standard Ethernet network following the IEEE requirements. The AmigaNet software merges totally with AmigaDos operating system, no difference between working with AmigaDos or over the network. AmigaNetTools ============= AmigaNetTools are a collection of tools and applications for your existing AmigaNet software. AmigaNetMail, AmigaNetSpool, AmigaNetManager, AmigaNetDefine,AmigaNetStats, AmigaNetBBS and AmigaNetGames are part of the AmigaNetTools package. There will quite a few more programs coming with AmigaNetTools. We want to give you everything you could possibly think of and even more. All AmigaNetTools are mouse driven if they are not specifcally designed for the CLI. They are all service orientated and co-exist with the already existing AmigaNet software. AmigaNetMail is a sophisticated EMAIL package for AmigaNet that handles all sorts of files and can also display all common file formats (IFF images, IFF sound or ASCII text). Very useful if you want to send a messages to either a single person or a group and want them to realise that there is a message or some files for them. The recipient then can look at the message and save or delete them. AmigaNetSpool is a very nicely designed network printer spooler that totally manages all the printing on the network avoiding all possible problems. Print queues and print jobs with priorities make this a state-of-the-art printer spooler for the Amiga. AmigaNetManager is used to organise the network and to autmatically update assign structures or file paths or other paths used on the network. Mainly mouse driven this application makes network managment easier and faster. AmigaNetDefine lets you define logical devices over several AmigaNet computers for instance all the hard disks of all the connected Amigas could be defined as one logical hard disk. By this you always have some place where you can store and retrieve your data. AmigaNetDefine can also be used to define alternative paths. If computer A is not online for retrieving some command files you can define automatic rerouting of the path to computer B. AmigaNetStats is a statics tool for AmigaNet to see which Amiga is accessed how often and where net activity is getting tight or very low. This tool helps you to define your AmigaNet more efficiently avoiding any possible Ethernet bottlenecks. AmigaNetBBS is a nice application which is nothing else as an interactive mouse driven BBS. AmigaNetBBS can be used for team managment, open forum discussions or general public information. Idiot proof user interface and nice graphics make AmigaNetBBS a very good information tool for company communication. AmigaNetGames finally is for leisure. Some games will be included here that can only be played with at least two or more players on the net. Conqueror, some maze games and a tiny flight simulator will be included here. If some entertainment software manufacturer help us we will provide patch programs to make popular games multi-user AmigaNet compatible. TCP/IP for the Amiga ==================== ACD is currently porting TCP/IP with NFS to the AmigaNet Ethernet board. AmigaNetTCP/IP will offer full TCP/IP compatibilty and NFS with all features. NFS will be cooperating with the Amiga file system and works without Amiga UNIX. Implementations for other network boards than the AmigaNet boardare currently not planned.
