[net.music] Rock & Roll & Age

one TWO three FOUR one TWO three FOUR one TWO three FOUR

Rock and Roll is independent of age. I am a serious aficionado of
any form of music as long as it's not middle of the road, was raised
on Vivaldi and think Charles Mingus sits at the right hand of God.

I do not know of any music effort of HIGHER quality than, say, the Who's
Live at Leeds or Neil Young's Decade.

So that's your problem! But since you don't care for anything
middle of the road, I guess you outgrew him, at least. :-) :-) :-) !!!!

Seriously, for other Vivaldi-endless-Baroque-phobes, here's a saying
attributed to Stravinsky:

"Vivaldi did not write 600 concerti grossi. He wrote the same one 600 times."

                              . . .

For those of you who lament that "classical" music is not being created today,
fear not! The American Soceity of University Composers, for one, is a large
group of people doing exactly that. "But that's that yucky 12-tone music!"
(Said with exactly the same inflections a preppie would use to describe
hardcore punk.) Well, I never promised you'd like it...

                                         the baldly opinionated,
                                                      Jeff Winslow
