[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga Unix & tiga graphics..

gt5784a@prism.gatech.EDU (Walter G. Reynolds (JJ)) (06/07/90)

I have seen beauty. I was walking around at COMDEX today, stopped by
the Texas Instruments booth.. when what should my eyes behold? An Amiga
3000 running Unix V rel 4... and it had a really nice graphics card
with it, too. 1024 x 1024 x 8 graphics.. (noninterlaced, of course).
It was running XWindows, and really really looked sharp. I gaped.

The graphics board was using the TI TIGA technology.. that's all I
can remember. I gaped.

My apologies for not being able to give more info.. I just thought I'd
share this with the rest of the net... on the other hand, if anyone knows
MORE about this product (either Unix or the graphics board), please either
reply to me. I will post a summary to the net.

W.Reynolds.

	It's the quasi-mythical University of
Lowell card. It has been connected to
Amiga Unix, and has been in place for
at least 8 months in that venue - the
Toronto World of Amiga show had it on
	display last November.

It does indeed look quite nice, so if
the performance can get improved with
X11R4, the product should be good...
