Keith seems to think that everybody but lawyers are fair-minded, wonderful
people who would just never think of going after a piece of rich Uncle Joe's
estate. Wills are written under the circumstances they are because of
A*****ES who think that just because they've lived xty-x years on this earth
and are a fifth cousin six times removed that old Joe must have just forgotten
them - after all, he wasn't QUITE right in the head, was he? etc. ad nauseum.
Sooo, let's play break-the-will. The representing lawyer didn't initiate the
action (or make a need for strict laws regarding wills), the A*****E did!
This is just one example. America has zillions of lawyers, first, because
no matter what you say, people who know what the law is are going to have a lot
of prestige, and second, America is full of people who have what is
euphemistically known as the "pioneering spirit" - i.e. I'm going to get
'my share' no matter who I have to tromp. And of course, since this IS one
of the freer societies around (thank somebody, anyway) tools are made
available for these people on demand - i.e. lawyers.

I imagine if there is a net for lawyers somewhere, they are burbling about
how engineers cause so many problems...
