[comp.sys.amiga] Video with DigiVieW?

jean@pogo.hasler (06/11/90)

Situation:

I am very new with Amiga. I have an A500 with 2 diskette drives but
not yet the 512K expansion! I have already some experience with
Deluxe Paint, Digipaint and Photon Paint (unfortunately without
animation) and evidently with all the Software coming from the News
(for instance Cshell and VLT + Messydos for my PC).
On the other hand I have a Canon Hi8 and a SONY televisor (with RGB
on SCART) (both PAL). I have not yet copied my Hi8 tapes on my VHS
VCR for evident reason: I will buy soon a S-VHS VCR (prices going
down every day!!).

Genlocks are too expensive for me. I just would like to add at the
beginning of each video sequence a title prepared on the Amiga
(eventually with some animation) using frames from the video itself
or from other pictures. I think Digiview can do it (or partially).

I don't know DigiView (4.0) at all expect the fact that we can
digitize pictures in 3 steps (RBG parts(?) with filters).

Questions:

1) What is the memory requirements for Digiview?

2) Has DigiView a video interface? RGB?
If this is the case I probably need a S-VHS to RGB
converter. References? Or what else? Cheap frame
   grabber?

3) Can I get pictures from my Canon Hi8 or VCR by pausing?

4) Do I need a S-VHS digital freeze for better Quality?
The new S-VHS VCR in pause are very stable.

5) Do I need a RBG to S-VHS converter to transfer my
pictures from Amiga to the VCR?

6) If 2 and 5 are true, do you know some cheap RBG-SVHS
(both directions) converter? I only know one from
Philips for S-VHS to RGB (<200$).

7) The picture mode on Amiga for such a transfer seems
to be "Interlace". Is it true?

Thanks a lot in advance.
