This should have been posted to Comp.sys.amiga.hardware, but I can't post messages directly for now, so maybe somebody (not everyone!) would be kind enough to send a copy there if there is no response for it. We are two people with the same Amiga 2000 configuration and having problems with it. I own a 2000 with a rev6.2 (6.02? I'm writing this at the office so some details will be left over), a GVP SCSI-8 controller (don't have the revision number around here) and a Seagate ST-296N 80 meg HD. Everything works fine, unless I plug in the 2 megabytes of SIMM I bought for my system, the system won't get to the white "software seems ok" screen and start rebooting over and over, showing me a really nice lightshow featuring the tho gray screens and the little blinking power LED. I tried the controller on a rev4.5 A2000 and it seemed to work (we did get a "checksum error" from a program on this 2000 harddisk when booting, but I saw the old AmigaDOS window opening). I have heard some rumours that the model of SIMMs was not right for my controller (sorry, I don't have the number for now either, but I can say that I tried two different model at this time), and the folks at the canadian GVP distribution center don't seem to be very well informed on the subject. So, if you have a problem similar to mine, a working GVP-SCSI-8 with memory or you simply work at GVP and can tell me which chips to buy, please post the answer here... Life is rough with only 600K left when booting! Eric Moreau. (P.S.: Please excuse my english, I am one of those french- speaking Quebec residents.)
